How to Create Security Designs with Securidesign for Corel Draw X7
Securidesign is a set of macros for Corel Draw and Corel Designer that allow you to create various designs used frequently in security printing, such as certificates, bank notes, documents, and so on. With Securidesign, you can easily create guilloche patterns, rosettes, contours, and fills right in your Corel Draw document.
In this article, we will show you how to install and use Securidesign for Corel Draw X7, and how to create some simple security designs with it.
Installing Securidesign for Corel Draw X7
To install Securidesign for Corel Draw X7, you need to download the setup file from the official website[^1^]. The file size is about 700 KB. Make sure that you have Visual Basic for Applications installed along with Corel Draw X7. Run the setup program and it will install all the files for you automatically.
After installation, you will see a Securidesign toolbar in your Corel Draw X7 interface. You can also access the macros by going to Tools > Visual Basic > Play... dialog and choosing \"Securidesign (SecuriDesign.gms)\" from \"Macros in:\" list.
Using Securidesign for Corel Draw X7
Securidesign contains three basic modules: Contour Generator, Pattern Generator, and Function Editor. You can use them separately or together to create various security designs.
Contour Generator
Contour Generator is similar to the Contour effect in Corel Draw X7 with the exception of Corel Draw's effect creating contour lines with constant offset from a control object. Securidesign uses harmonic functions to modulate the offset and thus easily generates base curves for various design elements such as rosettes.
To use Contour Generator, select a curve object in your document and click on the Contour Generator button on the Securidesign toolbar. A dialog box will appear where you can adjust the parameters of the contour generation. You can choose the number of contours, the distance between them, the function type, and the function coefficients. You can also use the Function Editor to create or edit your own functions.
After you click OK, the macro will create a group of contour curves based on your settings. You can ungroup them and edit them further if needed.
Pattern Generator
Pattern Generator is used to produce guilloche \"fills\" between two selected curves in your document. You need to have two curve shapes which are used as envelopes for the pattern. The resulting fill follows the path of both envelopes.
To use Pattern Generator, select two curve objects in your document and click on the Pattern Generator button on the Securidesign toolbar. A dialog box will appear where you can adjust the parameters of the pattern generation. You can choose the number of lines, the distance between them, the function type, and the function coefficients. You can also use the Function Editor to create or edit your own functions.
After you click OK, the macro will create a group of pattern lines based on your settings. You can ungroup them and edit them further if needed.
Function Editor
Function Editor is used to create mathematical functions used by both Contour and Pattern Generator modules when creating contours and patterns. You can specify a function description as a set of Fourier coefficients or you can draw a function in your document and have the Function Editor to \"digitize\" the function and produce the coefficients automatically to best fit the representation you drew.
To use Function Editor, click on the Function Editor button on either Contour or Pattern Generator dialog boxes. A dialog box will appear where you can enter or edit the function coefficients manually or use one of the predefined functions from the list. You can also click on \"Digitize\" button to digitize a function drawn in your document.
After you click OK, the macro will return the function coefficients to either Contour or Pattern Generator dialog boxes aa16f39245
